St. Johns River to Sea Loop Multi-Use Trail Design

New Smyrna Beach, FL

Client: FDOT D5 

Project Cost:  $3.5 million

Project Start: October 2017

Project Completion: May 2023

Scope of Services:

·  Design of a 1.25-mile trail network along Myrtle Ave that provides a safe and vital route for school children at New Smyrna Beach Middle School and an important north-south shaded pedestrian path parallel to US-1.

·  Right of Way surveying and acquisition support.

·  Drainage design and coordination of SJRWMD and FDEP stormwater and environmental permitting

·  Coordinated the piping of an existing mosquito control ditch for approximately ½ mile of the projects length to provide a safer trail area with minimal drop-off conditions, eliminating the need for regular maintenance repairs to the trail and ditch.
